Spreading Only - No Chopping is obtained by retracting the knives and blanking plate to allow free passage of straw into the discharge rotor. The knife mounting system and blanking plate are moved by twin hydraulic rams.

Kives lowered for short chop
Short Chop Performance is obtained by lowering knife and blanking plate assembly so that the knives engage with the cross beater. The blanking plate forces all of the chopped straw to pass through the screen. Straw which is too long to pass through the screen is re-circulated back into the bale chamber.
